The river is the source of lots of pleasure and can be deadly during a hurricane. Bath suffered a lot and had much damage from Hurricane Bonnie in 96 and Fran and 2 years ago Floyd, but fishing and boating and all watersports are enjoyed on the river almost all year.
Crabs are abundant in the summer and soft shells are a special treat that can also be enjoyed.
Some of the most beautiful sunsets occur in the fall.
