I find Kanopolis to be unique in the variety of terrains and wildlife habitats that it offers. There are sandy beaches, rock outcroppings, hills for climbing, grassland, marshes, and wooded areas. I've seen lizards, prairie dogs, hawks, gulls, and eagles and though I haven't seen them I know from track evidence that there are deer, racoon, and other small mammels in the area. As I'm not a fisher I don't know what kinds of fish are in the lake, but whenever I've visited there have been people on the lake fishing.
