This is Dayton’s district of historic houses. Most of the architecture dates to the 1830s-1890s. Antique and specialty shops abound here, along with the city’s best restaurants and bars- this is THE place for nightlife in Dayton. Stroll around during the day to check out the homes, most of them are huge and show a lot of Victorian influence. There’s an abundance of places for lunch and dinner, from fast food to elegant and romantic dining. At night, the area comes alive, especially Fifth Street, where most of the bars and clubs can be found. There’s everything from a great dance club to calmer bars where you can share a pitcher with friends and play pool. For a romantic touch, sit down with your sweetie on one of the stone benches alsong side giant flower pots in front of some of the shops and watch the sun go down while you talk about your dreams for the future. (My husband won me over this way on our first date, so I can vouch that it really works.)
