The residents of Telluride and Mountain Village respect and appreciate the environment in which they live. In an attempt to eliminate noise, pollution the 2 towns operate a gondola ride, which serves as the most popular form of transportation. This free 12 minute ride operates between the two villages. Approximately 8 adult passengers can fit into an enclosed car that runs over the ski slopes on a cable system. Friendly gondola operators help riders load into the cars, which never really stop. The views of the mountain are amazing from the gondola. We spent our rides searching for the bears we heard had been playing on the mountain. New Yorkers alike find this mode of transportation very similar to the sky ride at the Bronx zoo.
