Ostende is a picturesque seaport on the Belgian coast. It boasts a large fishing harbor and also is a port for the ferries and hovercraft crossing the English Channel.

Its long promenade is a great place to stroll and see the sights. Its fish market, the Visserskaai, is the place to be early in the morning to purchase fresh fish from the North Sea. Fish vendors are also set up along the harbor.

Gambling is a staple at the Kursaal and many cross the Channel regularly to try their luck. Finding English-speaking people is not difficult here. You will meet lots of British tourists and visitors.

Historical sights such as the Atlantikwaal and St. Peter & Paul church are a must-see.

Ostende is a pretty stop with a seaside atmosphere and many interesting people.
