New Orleans is not a city that would spring to most people’s mind when planning a family vacation. There are, however, a number of great child oriented attractions around the city.
The Aquarium of the Americas – great for both kids and adults. My favorite section was the jellyfish. It’s also a nice way to take a break from the hot weather.
Audubon Park and Zoo – A great zoo with everything from “amphibians to zebras.”
Children’s Museum on Julia St. near Magazine St. A great interactive museum for kids, with lots of hands on learning.
Riverboat cruises – The Cajun Queen Riverboat offers one hour narrated cruises departing in the afternoons from the Aquarium.
Jackson Square – a great place to watch jugglers and other street performers.
