When you get to the area..you will look around VERY concerned because it looks like a dump in the surround area...trashy streets, cars parked everywhere, people loitering on the corners...etc. When you walk in you take a sigh of relief because it does look nice inside. Like most places in Egypt, there are metal detectors and guards at the entrance so you feel safe. Check in was simple, no major problems.
We are escorted to our room. The room looks cleaner than it smells. It has a stench of musk. Maybe like they need to replace the carpets or something. Never the less, when we get the air conditioner running, the smell disappears. The room has a balcony overlooking the pool (that was under construction) the room had central air and heating and the hotel provided us with soap and towels.
The hotel did not have a directory to inform us of what services that offered. We only had towels and no wash rags. We phone down to the front desk and they indicated they will bring us some. 45 minutes later we phone again. 30 minutes later someone comes up with hand towels.
We wanted to order in the room one evening. With no directory we ask the front desk could they send us up information on the 3 eateries in the hotel. They said no. If we wanted to find out about the eateries we should go to them and then see if they will give us a menu. It took us over an hour to get 1 bottle of water from the room service.
Wireless internet service was provided at a fee per hour. They had a free breakfast each morning that was okay. There was a person selling tours and taxis that seemed to harass us for his services. Everyone is after a tip there- running to get your bags so they will get your tip- despite the fact we told them that we would take our own bags, the minute we turned our head they took our bags anyway! (it wasn't just this hotel, seemed like everywhere in Cairo someone wanted a tip for something.!!!)
We never ate at any of the restaurants and stayed out of the gift shops. I really would not want to stay here again. The hotel is not close to anything. We had to get up early one morning to take our flight. We asked for a 12am wake up call to meet our driver at 1am. 1236am our phone rings to get up. There were no clocks in the room and the TV did not have a wakeup button feature . This was a major disappointment for me. Some air carriers only have one flight a day out of Cairo. If we would have missed our flight, we have been stuck in Cairo another night!!! This was a major concern for me. As we leave the hotel to head to the airport, its almost 2am and the city is still hopping like its 5pm. Cairo - the city that never sleeps!

All in all I try to be as honest as possible giving reviews and not to sway one way or the other,.... just to let you know of my experience and you can base you future hotel booking on that, BUT it was a great deal of little things that the hotel did not have or provide us with that added up to ALOT. I feel strongly that I would NOT stay here again
