Quote: Senator Gran Vía, Madrid Photo - Senator Granvia, Madrid, Spain I have family in Spain, mostly in Madrid, and I have spent uncountable nights at the Senator Gran Vía, named after the street it is located on, the main artery of Madrid, the Gran Vía (literally "Big Route" or "Big Street"... although the Madrileños prefer to give it more of a "Great Street" meaning).

The hotel is located inside an old picturesque palace in the very centre of the Spanish capital, a step away from all the major attractions and nightlife and in the best connected location of the city with a huge difference.

It is a minute or two away from Plaza del Sol, Cibeles and Callao for sightseeing; two minutes walking from Chueca, Alonso Martínez and Huertas for nightlife; five to ten minutes walking from the Palacio Real, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and Museo del Prado.

Also, there are at least three major underground stations that will leave you right by the door of the hotel in Gran Vía station (lines 1 and 5 -light blue and green) or a minute walking from it in Sol station (lines 1, 2 and 3 -light blue, red and yellow) or Callao station (lines 3 and 5 -yellow and green).

The hotel itself is nothing unconventional: clean, tidy, standard rooms, good amenities, good quality, nice bathrooms, safe, a/c-heating controls,...
A very clear example of a 4-star hotel for Madrid (which, contrary to belief, has the highest touristic standards of all Europe; about 10 to 15% of the GDP depends on tourism in Spain and they know how to promote it).

What makes it special for me is the people that work there, who are amazing professionals, always ready and willing to help, very knowledgeable of the city and its possibilities, friendly and caring.
I myself have witnessed them go far out of their duties to make guests' lives easier (including going with a non-Spanish speaker guest to hospital after their shift to translate for her)

Just as a hint of the quality of the hotel, when I stay there, except if I go on any major Spanish holidays, I ALWAYS bump into a Spanish Senator or a Member of Parliament that's there on a political trip.

Most recommended in Madrid, indeed.
