Boats are in the water and the skyline lights up when it become dark. We did make a reservation earlier that day ( we were in the neighborhood). Our table was outside, like we asked, near a fire basket. The view is so wonderful and the outside area has a great ambiance. I like this restaurant because of the outside dining.

Our waitress was young and very nice and polite. I had the feeling she wasn’t experienced with serving. However she did a great job. Only one point of criticism. When she opened the bottle of wine, she didn’t remove the metal foil first. She twisted the wine opener through the metal foil and cork and pulled it out. Normally you do this gently, but she had to work hard to get the cork out of the bottle. This is not how you suppose to open a bottle of wine, because this way the metal can touch the wine.

About the food; this is what we had:

Main course: We both had the Sea Bass ($34.95 per meal)
Dessert: 1 Key Lime Pie to share ($5.95)
Drank: A bottle of Casa Lapostolle Sauvignon Blanc ($30)

Before the main course we got some bread. This bread is delicious. It is with melted cheese. I always have to look out, that I don’t eat too much of this bread. I don’t want to loose my appetite. We didn’t order an appetizer, so we got our main course. The Sea Bass was fresh and tasteful. It came with assorted fresh vegetables and noodles with Asian Citrus Broth. The plate wasn’t warmed up, so we had to eat fast, otherwise the food got cold. We European people like to eat slowly. After the main course we asked for some time, so we could finish our wine first. That was not a problem. After that we had a key Lime Pie to share. Nothing to complain about this piece of pie. The wine was good and gladly without metal pieces.

Quote: Yes, The Rusty Pelican is situated in a very beautiful location on the water. Which is where the good part of this review comes to a halt. The service is horrible and you have to flag down your waiter and continue reminding them of anything and everything you're asking for. Sunday brunch seems like a great idea: all you can eat/drink for 28 bucks. However, the food is nothing out of this world, on top of the fact that this past Sunday, January 7, I went to this brunch to find WORMS swiggling around in our plates of oysters and crab legs. Three little worms, after we had already consumed several plates. We asked our waiter to see the manager, to which the manager relayed that he was busy and to comp the meal. Comp the meal? With not even an apology or a visit from the manager? We pushed further to speak with him. The manager finally came back with a "The food's on us." I was very dissatisfied to say the very least. Free food after eating parasitic worms did not make me happy, especially since he obviously desired that the worm situation be a contained one, with the hopes that no one else would notice these parasites crawling around in their food and into their mouths. We took the liberty of informing everyone around us of the worms and noticed that they just kept the food coming. You would think at least they would have stopped serving the parasite-infested items, but instead they just wanted to maintain the flow of the restaurant. All in all I would definitely NEVER go back to this establishment.

Quote: It has a nice atmosphere and the food is good. It has American and continental cuisine. I’ve been there a few times, and the view is always fantastic. Many locals and a few tourists come to this place. Many people stay in the area of Ocean Drive, and they also eat in that area. If you have a car, drive to the Rusty Pelican and experience a fine dinner and a view of Key Biscayne and downtown Miami from your table. After your meal, walk outside on their dock and enjoy their incredible view. You couldn’t ask for more.

Quote: My favorite restaurant is the Rusty Pelican. Located on Key Biscayne, it opens to a spectacular view on Miami. No matter if it is day or night, the Miami skyline from here is awesome. You can sit outside during the cooler months - not the coolest! - and enjoy drinks by the flickering light of the open fires. The sound of the waves, the fires, the wonderful skyline, good company, what more could you want?

For dinner, any table in the restaurant presents a view of Miami’s skyline. To the right, you can see Miami Beach. To the left, Coconut Grove. Straight ahead, the Brickell Avenue buildings. During the day, you’ll be entertained by the boats sailing or speeding through the bay. At night, the colors of the lights turn the city into a perfect picture postcard.

Dining is more elegant than casual, offering a variety of American and European dishes. There are always "early bird specials," less expensive than the regular menu dinners. The ambience inside the restaurant complements the fabulous view of the city.

For any visitor, the Rusty Pelican is an absolute MUST.
