The Tall Ships come to Halifax every few years and when they do, the waterfront seems transported back 100 or 200 years to the age of Sail when the harbour was lined with ships and masts and sails. The waterfront is buzzing with thousands of people walking the boardwalks and looking at the wonderful ships, some wooden, some converted steel hull and all sizes from schooners to four masted barques. You will be able to get a pass to board some of the ships and have a look around the decks, talk to the sailors and imagine what it must be like to be out on the open seas under the skies. There are ships from all over the world that visit. The waterfront is lined with souvenir kiosks and tents with top entertainment and food as well. At the end of the festival, all the ships sail down and back up the harbour in a magnificent "Parade of Sail". There are many good spots to watch from in addition to the downtown areas and well worth it.
