This hotel is really easy to find, just tells the taxi driver to go to the Ambassador Hotel in Churchgate, and Chateau Windsor is the building next door. The reception is on the 5th floor. There are varies kind of rooms, 1 to 4 people, with or without private bath, with or without breakfast, etc. Make sure to find out the type you are reserving ahead of time, or even better to have it in writing. They have a kitchen that only serves breakfast.
We booked Chateau Windsor thru an Internet agent and paid US$84 per night. Upon arrival in an early Dec. night, they showed us a tiny room full of cigarette smell, without a private bathroom, right next to the reception. We refused but they insisted that this was the room we paid for and any room with a private bath will incurred an upgrade charge of $20 and up. It’s like dejavu! Didn’t we just have an exact same experience with the exact same upgrade charge two days ago with our Aurangabad hotel? See our review on Amarpreet in Aurangabad.
Oh well, it was midnight and we were tired. So we ended up paying a total of $104 for the one you see in the photos. At least, the place was clean, Marine Drive was just a few buildings away, and there were plenty of good restaurants nearby. And these are the reasons why this place is still getting a 3/5 rating from us, just watch out for the bait and switch.
