Quote: Zoo Entrance Photo - Greenville Zoo, Greenville, South Carolina The Greenville Zoo is conveniently located along the edge of downtown Greenville, right off of HWY 29. Visitor will only need to follow the signs to find the zoo. With a price of only $6 for adults and $3 for kids, this is a great option for families who find themselves with nothing to do on a lazy afternoon. The zoo is open from 10:00-5:00 daily and is only closed on major holidays.

As is reflected in the price, the zoo is somewhat small, but does have a nice variety of animals, as well as well maintained grounds and exhibits. Animals on display include: elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, red pandas, orangutans, birds, alligators, a reptile house, and (my favorite) giant tortoises. Many of the animals are babies, which is always fun to see. Though of a nice variety, there aren't actually that many animals. It will only take visitors an hour to see every animal on display. But for only $6, that's not unexpected.

On what could be considered an upside however, many of the exhibits are somewhat small, ensuring that you can view the animals up close. Kids will love the chance to see these exotic animals in such close proximity. You're going to know going in that you will be able to see all of the animals and that they won't be hidden back inside the exhibit, out of sight. The only exception would be on a cold or rainy day, like the day we went, in which many of the primates leave the exhibits for their private enclosures. All other animals were unaffected by the weather, however, and were out and about for visitors to see.

There are picnic areas, playgrounds, a snack bar and gift shop also located in the zoo. Because the zoo is right at the Cleveland Park, you also have close access to walking and biking trails and a larger playground.

Considering the price, the zoo is a great value and a fun opportunity for families and all individuals.

Quote: Although it's small, this little zoo is a wonderful attraction for younger kids. Located in Cleveland Park, there is a playground and picnic area. Many children enjoy feeding the ducks in the nearby river. The zoo itself doesn't take very long to see. It's just the right size to hold a young one's attention. Our favorite animals included Joy the Elephant, the white tigers, and the chimps that make you aware of their presence well before they are in your sight. This is a fun experience the whole family can enjoy.
