Quote: Huntington Beach State Park Photo - Huntington Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina For our Day-at-the-Beach we opted for one of the state parks, granted there is an enterance fee of about $20.00, as opposed to the public beach. The beach here is well kept. There is a historic house on the property as well as a boardwalk. We walked both. I believe ther eis also a stone pier as well. We took a picnic lunch and a cooler with pop and water for the kids. Bring plastic baggies to keep your stuff dry and sand free. We also brought our own chairs. If you walk down away from the public access closest to the parking lot the beach becomes more secluded.

Quote: HB Photo - Huntington Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina This state beach has a daily admission charge of $5 per person and is well worth it!!!! If you want to avoid the overcrowded beaches, this is the place to be. Additionally, there are tons of shells, sand dollars, and terrific beach finds. There were very few people around, and we were there on very hot days, when the other beaches were packed!! There are a lot of terrific restaurants on the road through Murrell Inlet to get to the state park. It is REALLY well worth the cost. Once you have paid, keep your receipt and they will accept that for any reentry!!!!

Quote: Huntington Beach Photo - Huntington Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Huntington Beach offers the best preserved beach on the Grand Strand. We found this area to be quieter and less populated then the beaches in the Surfside/Myrtle Beach area, yet the waves were better for the kids to enjoy. Not only is the beach great but the park’s freshwater lagoon, saltmarsh, and maritime forest are outstanding examples of the state’s natural coastal environment. The park is widely recognized as one of the best birding sites along the East Coast. Huntington Beach is also the site of the historic "Atalaya" castle.

There is an admission fee of $5 per adult/youth age 16 - 64 and out-of state seniors; $3 per youth/child age 6-15; Free for children 5 and younger, and SC Seniors 65 and older. The park is open Saturday - Thursday 6am - 6pm and on Friday 6am - 8pm.

Quote: Pristine beach with three miles of sand - very seldom is it "crowded" (have never been there when there was over seventy five people). A state park fifteen minutes south of Myrtle beach.
