We stayed in both the Holiday Inn Heavenley and The Grand Hyatt, so skiied most areas around Tahoe. Lift passes were not cheap, but there is wonderful skiing and no life queues, especially compared to Europe.
It was April, so late season, but we stil got 2 powder days in our week and made the most of them. It is quite possible to ski a different resort everyday, checking with the hotel in the morning where has the best snow, although obviously you need a car for this. As you can see from the pictures, the views are wonderful. Facilities everywhere were great with a variety of food and drink available on or near the slopes.
Yiu are spoilt for choice for apres ski. As the lake is on the California / Neveada border, there are casinos galore if that is your bag. Can be a fairly relaxing way to spend to evening after a day on the slopes. Dining options range from very cheap all you can eat Las Vegas style buffets, to decent restaurants for more memorable meals. Heavenly is probably the easiest resort in terms of facilties and walkable distances between hotels and lifts, however the beautiful areas around the Grang Hyatt are not to be missed for a slightly classier affir.${QuickSuggestions} Try you luck in the casinos to win back the price of your lift pass!${BestWay} We hired a car in San Fransisco and drove to Tahoe- less than 3 hours. This was a great way to combine city and ski breaks.
