Quote: SUNSET IN PUERTO VALLARTA Photo - Rosita Hotel, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico I have stayed here twice, and the reason I returned was LOCATION !!

The Hotel Rosita, built in 1948, is considered the most traditional hotel in Puerto Vallarta. It offers the charm of old Mexico, plus modern conveniences and an unbeatable location where the beach and the north end of the Malecon (boardwalk) meet. Unique shops and sparkling nightlife are only steps away, making this safe and secure hotel ideal for singles and families alike ! It's a family-owned hotel with swaying palm trees and a swimming pool. It's only a 15-minute taxi ride from Gustavo Diaz Ordaz Airport.

A ten-minute walk will lead you to the main church, municipal offices, and Puerto Vallarta's market places. A bus stop is less than a block away.

It is so nice to stroll on the Malecon in the evening without worrying about when the buses will stop, and when the expensive taxi rides back to your hotel begin (taxi fares are regulated and priced low as long as the buses are running).

The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable, the maid service is good, and desk clerks are helpful and friendly. There is a computer available to check e-mails at a reasonable rate. Don't bother renting a "refrigerator", as they aren't meant to get cold.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA, as they have tiny rooms on the noisy street side. I did, and the price seemed too good to be true. Well, it was!! We checked in on a Friday. Our "balcony" was about two feet wide with a little door opening onto it. One person could stand up against the wall uncomfortably. The two queen beds were a double and twin, there were no closets. People walking by could see into our bathroom. The room was very small. We did not sleep for even an hour because of very loud street noises! The manager changed our room the next day and we were comfortable after that. Pay a little more, or contact the hotel directly.

I like the rooms facing the ocean because they have a full-size patio (only three or four rooms have these). But, they only have ceiling fans for cooling. We left the sliding door open until about midnight, and the ocean breeze was nice and cool. My room was spacious with two queen beds, and priced less than $60 per night (high season) in January, 2007. There is an open-air restaurant on the first floor which is good, but also many restaurants within walking distance. If you must have a burger, McDonald's and Carl, Jrs are right there !!

Everything always worked... if a light bulb burned out a phone call brought an immediate replacement. My room had a walk-in tiled shower with good water pressure. It also had cable TV, a large dresser/desk, chairs, nightstands, closet. The patio had a table and chairs.

The hotel is more expensive during holidays, but very affordable most of the year. A good time to visit is mid-January... uncrowded, and no insects!!

I'm hoping this link works, this is for a webcam on the hotel roof pointing south to the Malecon. http://www.hotelrosita.com/english/puerto-vallarta-webcam.html

Quote: This hotel is worth every dollar, the location is the best feature, at the beginning of the ""Malecon"", close to the night life, the Mercados, the laundry, bus stops, etc. hotel staff was very helpful and corteus, I would stay here again. the only thing that needs attention it"s the plumbing, there is a strong smell when you enter the room. Maybe it was just my room. Experience the first Hotel ever built in PV, is not outdated, Puerto Vallarta it"s the best, enjoy it.

Quote: We stayed at Rosita in 2 rooms on the street side and to our surprise they were not noisey, rooms 206 and 207. The rooms were clean and basic, two double beds each (comfortable) and a large shower (but no hot water!). We called the desk to make them aware that we did not have hot water but it was never fixed. The employees were nice and the food in the restaurant was good. Even though we were disappointed with no hot water we would stay here again if we returned to PV. Location can't be beat!

Quote: The Front Desk Agents were not friendly, they did not look up when I approached them and when they finally acknowledged me there were no smiles. We had a very basic room (very clean) which faced the street and it was very noisy with traffic. The beds were extra firm. The elevator was very small - it looked like a stand-up freezer and it was very tight with 4 people in it. The location was very convenient! Loved the lobby and restaurant areas -very Mexican and very open. Did not like the chain link fence around the pool area. Would return again as the price is right.

Quote: We spent two nights at the historic Hotel Rosita. Staff at the check-in desk did not speak English but the bellmen did. Rooms were basic but clean. Great location at the head of the Malecon. Wonderful authentic Mexico decor and atmosphere. Nice pool. Reasonably priced rooms, drinks and food.
