Quote: Snow Canyon Photo - Snow Canyon, St. George, Utah Lovely little state park west of town. A central autoroute takes you to numerous trails that wind through red and whiterock Navajo Sandstone. The landscape is typical "dixie" - magnificent, very peaceful, and with spectacular views of the desert around you. A worthwhile reminder that not all of southern Utah is golf course or strip mall and well worth the short drive from St. George.

For the less adventurous, a paved path winds through the main canyon; it's also ideal for bikers who neglected their knobbies. During my visit the path hosted a dozen or so rolling tourists on the Segways - a sight as silly as anything on cable television and well worth the price of admission.

For those without the time to visit any of the larger natural areas to the east, Snow Canyon makes a great introduction to the southern Utah/Mojave landscape.

Quote: Snow Canyon Photo - Snow Canyon, St. George, Utah Snow Canyon is in the hills west of St. George. To one side of the canyon are the Red Mountains, to another are the White Hills, and eroded sandstone rocks of both colors make up the cliffs on both sides of the valley. There is also a lot of black lava, which came from old volcanoes not far away. The lava, cinder cones, and lava caves are the main points of interest, but the other colorful earth formations and cliffs are beautiful. Snow Canyou is colorful, scenic and little-visited but definitely work the trip.

Quote: Snow Canyon sits just north of St. George. It is one of the most beautiful little canyons we have seen. Its deep reds, coral pinks, brownish white, and white terrain with the large mountains and cliffs around are just outstanding. Thihs is a state park which was discovered by cowboys trying to find their cattle around at the beginning of last century. There is is a charge of $5 for admission, but it is well worth it.
