On the west bank of the Hillsborough River there is a small park which belongs to the University Of South Florida. It is a pleasant wide open green space called simply the
River Park. The University offers canoe and kayak rentals for students and facility. This park is open 365 days a year.
If you ‘
know the ropes’ and want to picture yourself in the 16th century then you have a rare chance to climb a mast here (on the land and without sails though but still very picturesque). Across the river, on the east bank you can find Lettuce Lake Park with its famous Observation Tower.
