Waco is a unique city. There are a ton of things to do and see here. Some of my favorite places in Waco are the park and the University. Both are very green and pretty. I enjoy just walking around and taking pictures at both places. It can get kind of hot in the summer so make sure you drink plenty of water.
Waco is home to a few well know people; Michael Johnson (runner), David Crowder (singer) and the university always has some well know athletes. At various times you can run into or catch a concert or game and see one of these local celebrities.
For me Waco is not too far away so it is a nice road trip. I live less than 2 hours away and it seems like we are there pretty often. Mostly driving through or stopping in for a concert. I have seen 2 Christian concerts in Waco (David Crowder Band, and Hillsongs) both were at great venues (UBC and the basketball stadium at the college respectively) and I enjoyed both. I have been to a few track meets and walked around the campus several times. My husband and I even spent the day there for July 4th.
Waco has some great places to eat, one place I love to eat is a seafood place right when you come into town, from the north, it sits on a river. I cannot think of the name off the top of my head but I know where it is when I drive into town. Another place that has good fast food bread sticks and you can not always find is a Fazzoli’s. It is an Italian fast food place. The food is not fantastic but they have great bread sticks and they are all you can eat. ${QuickSuggestions} Take your time looking around the city. There is so many different things to see and do so try to take it all in. Check out the thrift stores- they have a lot and you can usually find some good stuff there. Early summer and spring is really pretty, everything is still green and the weather is not to hot so being out doors is more enjoyable.
Waco has lots of museums and attractions. Many of these I have never done, but I am including them as suggestions. Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Dr. Pepper Museum (not to be confused with the real deal in Dublin TX), Texas Ranger Museum, Cameron Park Zoo, Waco Wetlands and a water park. I have been told there are some great bike trails in Waco. I would check some of these out when visiting Waco. Another suggestion is try to attend a Baylor sporting event of some kind, you will not be disappointed. The baseball team is very good and some other sports are as well. ${BestWay} The best way to get around is to drive. The city is pretty big and can be a bit confusing. You can walk around places like the University and the park and bridge but getting from place to place you really need to drive
