Cape May is a very expensive vacation. Room rates are very high. Everything is! And I couldn’t believe it--we had to pay to go on the beach. They say that it helps to keep the beach clean but they make so much money off the beach tags that I’m sure it covers the cost well above the one tractor that runs at night to sweep the beach. Oh yeah, if you want to go for a romantic night walk along the beach under the moonlight? Nope, sorry; because the tractor is sweeping, you are not allowed on the beach at night. I was on the beach at night once with a friend. You would have thought I just robbed a bank and was on the run. Cops have the worst attitude in Cape May. Very cocky--if you cross the white line on the road with your bicycle tire, you hear the whistle blow. If you're walking beside your bike down the tiny strip mall, whistle blow! Skateboarding for the kids? Nope, sorry, not allowed! I think they just approved that guys could wear a thong. "Yeah, that’s one law they should have changed!"

Ever watch those commercials where the guy throws the Frisbee and his dog catches it? Can’t do that in Cape May. No pets are allowed on the beach. Too many rules to have a nice vacation.

Just try to find a parking place. If you do, empty your bank account in the meter. Not to mention the traffic, creating toll roads to get there. I was surprised there wasn’t a dollar charge to go to the bathroom.

Oh yeah, that’s down the hall. And don’t ask anyone to help you in any of those stores--the people are so rude. Go out to Carney’s and get knocked down by the bartender if you dare stand in his way. C-view was cool but very small. Oh, don’t expect big rooms or restaurants, or anything really. Everything is very small. It’s a small, junky, expensive, ordinance-filled town, but with a lot of history.${QuickSuggestions} Take your kids for a week-long cruise, or go to Disney. It's cheaper!${BestWay} Don't drive around. Pay the price for a bike rental. But make sure you lock it up. Cape May is known for bikes being stolen.
