For family fun and a little adventure with lots of rewards, the U-Pick blueberry farm on Columbia Road is a fabulous way to spend a couple of hours. It is hot in blueberry season, and as you can imagine, it is a little work, with the name being "U-Pick", but it is worth it. ${QuickSuggestions} Bring mosquito spray or lotion. Blueberry season is also mosquito season. If you put something on, it is not a problem at all. Get there early. They open at 7am, and the best berries will be gone by 8am. Don't bring buckets or pails--they provide them. Do bring a camera. This a great place to take kids and meet locals. And as the man says at the front gate, "all you eat while you are here is FREE!!" Don't wear white. It will be blue when you leave, and white attracts mosquitos. Bring Clorox wipes. You will welcome them after an hour of dreaming of muffins and pancakes.

Get the kids involved before you set out. Ask them what they are going to make with their blueberries. Suggestions are pancakes, muffins, or homemade ice cream!${BestWay} The best way around Augusta is by car, no doubt. Traffic here is slower than just about anywhere I have been, and I am from an even smaller town than Augusta. Be patient, and if you really want to fit in, don't use your turn signal!
