We used this resort as a base for exploring the fall grandeur of northwest Colorado. Our visit to Strawberry Park Hot Springs was memorable on a perfect fall afternoon. Steamboat Lake SP is another worthwhile side trip. From Rabbit Ers Pass, take Highway 14 towards Ft Collins for a constant fall spectacular. Antelope and deer can be seen everywhere. Don't forget Rocky Mountain Park, which is only a couple of hours away. Highway 134 or 13 can be exciting, too. In fact, almost any road you try will be worth the effort in scenery or wildlife or both.${QuickSuggestions} Plenty of excellent eating places can be found in Steamboat, and the people are friendly and helpful.${BestWay} Hike the trail along the Yampa in Steamboat, or try any of the nearby state parks. A personal vehicle is required, but the roads are well maintained and the views breathtaking. Avoid the ALPINE Cab Co., however.
