The best part of our trip was the sunset catamaran cruise with Captain Andy's http://capt-andys.com. It was well worth the price, as it was seven hours and included snorkeling, open bar, a fantastic meal, and a quiet sail back to shore. We spent a great deal of time at the beach, as the water was not too rough at that time of year. We really took our time and asked for the help of the resort’s activities desk to book our tours and trips. Try to stay away from the movie tours, as the areas are now mostly overgrown and hardly recognizable. Be sure to visit the Kilauea Lighthouse on the way up to Princeville. Its is a spectacular view, a definite photo op. ${QuickSuggestions} Make sure to pre-book a rental car, especially if it’s a holiday weekend. Drive around the neighbourhood to find grocery stores, banks, and convenience stores within the first day or so. This will save time later on when they are needed. Talk to other guests where you are staying to get tips on restaurants and tours that they recommend. Make sure you have a hat with a brim that covers your ears. There is nothing worse than sunburning your scalp and ears. Try to bring sun screen with you, it gets pricey at the local stores. Also bring lip balm with sun screen in it. Lots of light, casual clothing is best as the humidity can skyrocket. Bring an extra bathing siut too. There's nothing worse than trying to get into a cold wet bathing suit after you return to the resort from one of your excursions. Comfy shoes are a must. I brought a pair of sneakers for walking and a couple pairs of sandals. ${BestWay} Best way to get around is by car. Most rental companies have convertibles to luxury cars. Driving is pretty straight forward but get some maps to be safe.
