Bend, Oregon/High Desert

Winter offers skiing at Mt. Bachelor. Our Olympic team practices at Mt. Bachelor. You can usually ski till June. Weekends are packed, reservations a must. Over 20 Golf courses in the area. Hiking, mountain bike riding, fly fishing, white water rafting, mountain climbing and plenty of places to dine. ${QuickSuggestions} Expect snow in winters NOV thru May. Mt. Bachelor is 45 min drive from downtown Bend. Californians invade the resorts on the weekends. Very popular area for family vacations in winter and summer${BestWay} I always fly into Redmond, either from Portland or direct from SF. 4 agencies for Car rental( Hertz, Avis, Budget, National) at Redmond airport, you do need a car. Full service on gasoline. If you get out to pump your gas, expect a loud HEY STOP. Gas stations can get fines up to $1000.00. Check web sites for specials on weekends, usually they give you one day free. Bend is 20 min ride from Redmond airport. Take 97 south when leaving airport.
