I just returned from a 5-night stay at the Riu and enjoyed the trip. We chose the Riu for the all-inclusive amenities (several bars, a nightclub, and restaurants), pools, and activities. Our primary objective of the trip was total relaxation and a lot of sun time. The main things I liked about the resort were the pools, bar and lounge options, and superb location in Cabo. We made the pleasant walk along the beach into town in about 40 minutes or you can get to town for a $10 cab ride.

During our stay, the hotel was at maximum capacity, but this was not a problem for us, mainly due to the VERY hard-working and accommodating staff. We found all the resort staff from bartenders, front deskmen, and housekeeping to be very professional and working very hard all day! An example of the willingness to accommodate us was at check-in we made several last minute room requests and the deskman was willing to change rooms three times to honor our view preferences this only took about 5 minutes total. If you ask and are pleasant to the hardworking staff, they are happy to try and accommodate all requests.

Again, eating was not our reason for choosing Cabo, so average food was not a disappointment. We waited in the reservations line and conversed with many other guests (and learned a lot of helpful tips like what to order and where to go) while waiting an average of about 30 minutes for the desk to open. I do feel that the resort should change its policy regarding this reservation line. We ate at all the restaurants: Japanese, gourmet, Mexican, and steak. Our favorite was the Mexican. We only ate at the buffet for lunch and breakfast. Dining at the reservation-only restaurants takes more time, and you should be willing to eat at a more leisurely pace; however, our wine glasses never emptied! Five nights was the prefect amount of time, and I felt that with a longer stay, the dining options and buffet style would get very daunting. I wish that they offered more seafood options at all the dining places--it seemed very limited, considering that fishing is a major income sourse in Cabo and would be very fresh. Guacamole and quesadillas here are excellent!

Rooms were clean, and it seemed that everywhere we turned, resort staff was maintaining the cleanliness of the resort.

All in all, it seemed that demanding guests who wanted to be waited on hand and foot were unsatisfied. However, if you enjoy the sun, swimming, drinks, social atmosphere, and laid-back Cabo attitude, you'll have a good time at the Riu.
