Boiling Lake is an amazing natural wonder and, as we were told, one of only two such wonders in the world (the other in New Zealand). It's a lake inside the crater of a volcano.
Boiling Lake is a very difficult hike, so don't go if you are not in decent shape. Also, go with someone who knows the way well. If you stay at Beau Rive, Mark Steele can recommend someone to go with you. Otherwise, you can get a guide when you get to the usual launching point--Laudat. It's best to go with someone that can tell you about the amazing local flora a fauna, including many species that exist only on Dominica. On the way to Boiling Lake, you will cross the valley of desolation and can see fissures of hot water and mud all around. On the way back, make sure to stop a soak in one of the many natural pools formed by the run-off...make sure you are far enough down that it's not too hot!!!
