"Waco's Historic Suspension Bridge was the longest single-span suspension bridge west of the Mississippi when it was completed in 1870. The bridge was built with cable supplied by the John Roebling Co., who built the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. Crucial to traders and travelers for well over a century, the bridge stands as an icon of Waco history and is the centerpiece of many community festivals and events including the 4th on the Brazos celebration and Brazos Nights concerts." The bridge connects two of Waco's greatest parks — Indian Spring Park on one side, and Martin Luther King, Jr. park on the other side. While we were here we were able to go to both parks. Both are very pretty filled with green grass and the sight of the river that flows through them both. There are park benches and a playground, so you can come and picnic, and the kids can play.

There are several ducks that swim and walk along the river and up the sides of the park. You can bring some extra bread and feed them. They are a nice touch to the park atmosphere.

You are allowed to walk across the bridge, and I do recommend it. It is a historic sight and a neat experience. Waco has alot to offer, and many people do not even know it is there and what all it has to offer.

When I went it was in the summer and the sight was pretty; everything was green and in full bloom. It was a nice sunny day, so the water glistened and the sounds were like a nice summer day.
