Quote: Gazebo in Square Photo - Shopping in Mesilla, Las Cruces, New Mexico There are about 20 little shops in the square that sell all sorts of things, such as jewelry, antiques, and local crafts. All the shops close early during the week because there are not too many people shopping during the week. My favorite was this little salsa place where I bought some great-tasting local salsa. Many of the places also have stuff on sale. It is very peaceful and relaxing, but it is kinda small. You can get done with shopping in less than three hours.

Quote: There are numerous art galleries and shops with local crafts and wares. Las Cruces is surrounded by pecan orchards. The largest is owned by Stahmann and they have a store on the plaza where they sell the best and freshest pecans you have ever tasted. They ship, too. Close by is Ristramnn Chile Co. where you can buy the chile ristras in several sizes and chile powders by the 3/4-lb package, not to mention chile sauces made in Las Cruces.
