This Beaux-Arts Italianate villa, formerly home to oilman Waite Phillips, houses a wonderful permanent collection of American, African, American Indian, Asian and European art. Among the three floors to the house, you will find paintings, sculptures and artifacts. The artwork is accented by the wonderful architecture in the home.

There was a nice Wedgewood collection and a room housing photos and drawings of the history of the home while it was occupied. They had a small room of more contemporary art.

They were in between special exhibits when I attended, but after reading about some Western artists I had seen elsewhere, many of them have been featured here.

Outside of the home are spectacular gardens. They include a pretty Rock Garden and Water Garden. The gardens can be viewed without paying admission to the museum, and they are worth a visit on their own. Additionally, the museum is located in a residential area and is surrounded by many large, beautiful homes worth seeing.

They do have a restaurant, offer tours, and have a nice museum shop.
