Snake River Float Trip

We started out at the southern gate of the Grand Tetons National Park. We were picked up by the company we had made reservations with and driven up to the launching point north on the Snake River. It took about 30 minutes to get to the dock. We got in a large raft with a total of about 12 people including our guide.

The trip took about an hour to an hour and a half to float down the river where we had left our car. Our guide was excellent. His knowledge of the wildlife, environment, and the politics affecting the river and the park was outstanding. We floated leisurely past the Grand Tetons to the west and saw many types of wildlife. The absolute best thing about the trip was getting to see fledgling and adult bald eagles in the trees above the river. The male adult even perched on a log just feet from our raft!

The water was gentle with just a few slight rapids toward the end of the trip. The guide encouraged our questions and shared much history of the park itself and how it came to be.

This trip is highly recommended as a family outing. We were all exposed to scenery and animals we could not have seen elsewhere.
