Connemara was the main focus of our trip...to enjoy the scenery on some longish (2-3hr walks). So we were quite disappointed to find only two strolls in the National Park itself. The Park staff couldn't recommend any other tracks/roads in the area.
Surreptitious glances at other peoples maps revealed an accessible section of the Western Way (park in the carpark opposite the fishery on the Lough Inagh road, and walk up the road, past the B&B until you come to a small signpost pointing along the foot of the mountains to your left). Keen hikers could probably devise a loop in either direction, whereas the less keen will need to retrace their steps. In wet weather (when isn’t it in Galway?) our stroll involved fording regular streams, and trying to avoid sinking above our ankles in the boggy peaty sheep’s piss mud.
