Quote: Vallarta Adventure: Canopy Tour Photo - Vallarta Adventures (Canopy Tours, Scuba, Snorkel, Whale Watching), Puerto Vallarta, Mexico The Vallarta Adventure Canopy Tour is basically traversing among the treetops. Upon arriving at the tour office and checking in, you get into a shuttle which takes you about 45 minutes into the Sierra Madre jungle. The guide passes out some bananas and granola bars and you spend the time getting to know the other tour participants.

The tour takes place near the outskirts of Las Palmas. The scariest part is when you are going up these mountains and the road is barely wide enough to house the van and you look like you’re going to go tumbling down the mountainside. Our driver was very nice and would point out different types of vegetation and always kept it on the humorous side.

You are let out upon reaching the location and there are about 5-6 guides that will take you through the entire course. Um, I don’t have the facts with me here, but there are approximately 17 different traverses. It takes about 2-2 ½ hours to go through and then about a 15-minute walk back to the starting spot.

My husband and I thought the tour was great; a few other people thought there might be more to it. You are outfitted in gear that is similar to rock-climbing gear, and you wear these leather gloves that are used to guide and slow your accent through the trees. Some people were very scared, but everyone enjoyed themselves in the end.

A scary part is that when you are waiting for your turn, you are standing stories off the ground on a small platform that is only about 3-feet wide and is made of heavy plastic grate material; because the organization is environmentally friendly, the platforms are not attached to any of the trees with nails, only suspended and secured with rope.

Quote: Ready to CanOpy Photo - Vallarta Adventures (Canopy Tours, Scuba, Snorkel, Whale Watching), Puerto Vallarta, Mexico The absolute best tour I took in Puerto Vallarta!

Up high in the top canopy of the jungle zipping from tree to tree on a little rope...it was awesome! If you have a sense of adventure and like to feel your heart beat, book this tour - it rocks! The guides are really cool, and they make sure you enjoy being Tarzan for the day! (oh yeah, tip them well, after all they do keep you safe AND entertain you!). Check it out on their site, I believe I hooked it up right here...Vallarta Adventures

Worth it baby!

Quote: We went on three tours with this company. On the Sierra Madre tour, we went on a hike through the jungle and then had lunch and relaxed on a beach. The Swim with Dolphins tour was one of the favorite things we did. And the Canopy Adventures let you zip-line through tall trees in the jungle.

Quote: This tour was amazing!! Vallarta Adventures is amazing!! This was our first tour in Mexico and we weren''t exactly sure what to expect; the website had a very nice description and guests'' left nice comments. We booked through the Internet, received a 10% discount, and everything went well without any hitches.

We had to be in Neuvo Vallarta at 8:30am, our resort was so far away; we took a cab in for 190 pesos (wow, that is expensive!!!). When we got to the Vallarta Adventure office, and checked in without any problems. We were offered free breakfast while we waited to leave.

We were upset because we decided not to bring our digital camera in fear it might get wet, but it probably would have been fine. Throughout the entire day, we were videotaped and given the opportunity to purchase, which we did.

We started off just cruising towards the Marietas Islands, where we snorkeled. The first three whales we saw had dolphins riding along with them. We saw a ton of humpback whales. Near the end of the tour, we even saw a mother and her baby calf and they were only about 20 feet from the boat.

The snorkeling wasn’t the greatest because the currents made the water rather cloudy. But our guide would swim to the bottom and bring up starfish and puffer-fish for us to look at, as well as point out different fish. My husband saw a manta ray. We also had an opportunity to take out sea kayaks and explore for a while on our own. Once back on the boat, we were served lunch and headed off for a secluded beach all to ourselves. The guides ended the tour with a lip sync, which was one of the highlights.

A description of the tour can be found at the Vallarta Adventure''s website, http://www.vallarta-adventure.com.

Quote: The boat leaves from the Marina just before the sun sets. It takes you across the bay to an area where there are no roads, no electricity, it is John Houston's old property. You watch the sun set and when you arrive you hear the beating of drums, all is dark except for torches lit along the beach and the flickering of candles. You are greeted by Aztec costumed locals, it is very beautiful and romantic. You are led to a table where a waiter brings you wine and takes a cocktail order. The food was one of the best meals we ever had in PV. Handmade tortillas, everything and anything you wanted. We ate a lovely meal, drank some wine and chatted. Our table was right on the beach. It was really dark. We explored John Houston's house and some of the torch-lit trails. We were then led to an open-air amphetheater for an amazing show of interpretive Aztec music and dance. Lovely - one of the best tours ever.
