450 miles of road that is surrounded by endless trees, trails, caverns, hills, and valleys, the Natchez Trace is a wonderful stop for a breath of fresh air.

With a speed limit of 50 mph, this is not a short cut in the slightest. It is a historic trail from Natchez, Mississippi that strectches as far as Nashville, Tennessee. Established in May of 1938, it follows a historic Indian trail. The Parkway preserves significant historical sites such as Emerald Mound, the second largest ceremonial mound in the United States, plantation sites, pioneer inns, archeological villages, pioneer and slave cemeteries and an historic housing site, part of the resettlement program of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. This is truly an historical land mass that all should have the opportunity to see and explore. So if you like the great outdoors, history of America, and the family activity, this would be a great stop to make and enjoy.
