Quote: Las Casuelas Terraza Photo - Las Casuelas Terraza , Palm Springs, California This is one of those places most tourists don't miss. Las Casuelas Terraza sits front and center of Palm Canyon Drive and it looks like a piece of Old Mexico. The bougainvillea bloom and it draws you in.

This location has been here for 25 years and owned by the same family. It is tried and true as some restaurants have a short lifespan in the desert. The family has run Mexican restaurants in the desert for over 47 years!

The restaurant is large. When you enter a costume clad hostess will seat you. I suggest the patio, as it is like sitting in a pretty garden in Mexico. They also have mariachis playing music here.

The menu is good, not great. It has a little bit of a Mexican chain restaurant feel to it. Most items are not very spicy here, as they seem to season it for the tourist trade. They put out a lot of meals, so the kitchen seems more like an assembly line. However all foods are fresh and the lettuce is always crisp.

I love the nachos here. They are piled high and some of the best in the city. I also enjoy the taco plate. A lot of people don't come here for the food, but for the margaritas. They are huge and they have fun flavors like banana or kiwi.

The staff is young and friendly. I think the Mexican costumes are a bit much and I think the staff agrees. This has the kind of bar or pub feeling in service, light and fun.

There is better Mexican food in the desert. However, if you want a good margarita, a super plate of nachos, and to listen to Mexican music in a beautiful garden, then you have found your place. Las Casuelas Terraza has its place in Palm Springs and is a popular choice.
