"Life is not always beautiful, but it's a beautiful ride" - Gary Allen

About Me: A member of IgoUgo since 2005, my contributions have dwindled over the last couple of years. Starting a new position within my company (Dec 2006), moving from NJ to NC (Feb 2008) and purchasing my first home (all by myself) have all eaten up the spare time I used to use to create my contributions.

Moving from New Jersey to North Carolina has provided me with some great opportunities to visit places of interest and make new friends. I have found beautiful hiking trails, panaromic views, fun places of interest and delicious new resturaunts. I am now proud to call myself a "damn yankee" and look forward to sharing my travels with you.

I love taking unusual trips. I recently went storm chasing with Silver Lining Tours and had the time of my life. Met some awesome people, saw amazing things and came back with some newfound knowledge on weather and storm systems. I will never look at a cloud the same way again. The trip was documented by a film crew the entire week and was televised on the Travel Channel on a program called "Tornado Alley USA".

I have journals in all states of progress and look forward to posting them soon and receving feedback and questions. So stick around and check 'em out. Ya'll come back now ya hear?

More About Samlawali

I travel because...

there is more to life than just my little 1/2 acre postage stamp.

I love to travel to...

NYC for the variety and tempo. The mountains of NC for the fresh air and beautiful views. Anywhere I can spend time with friends and family or meet new people.

I never forget to pack...

my camera. That along with extra batteries is with me at all times. You never know when you may get that perfect moment you would like to capture.

My weirdest travel habit is...

asking my friends to wait before taking their first bite of a meal so I can snap a photo for a restaurant review.

It's my dream to travel to...

Greece - all of the photos and reviews I have seen just make me yearn to experience the culture. I would also love to see the Aurora Borealis and the Grand Canyon and the White Cliffs of Dover and Stonehedge and the worlds biggest frying pan. The list goes on and on...

When I'm not traveling...

I am playing volleyball. I am a fanatic and would play everyday if I could. I also meet friends for dinner around my tiny town of Lincolnton and in Charlotte, NC. I love a new site I found called meetup.com. It is filled with opportunities to experience new things in the area and make new friends.

I also travel online at...

SilverLiningsTours.com and weathernut.net to stay in touch with my stormchasing partners. Facebook is a great way to keep up with my friends up north (man, I miss them). Conde Nast Traveler and National Geographic also keep me entertained.
