This zoo is tucked inside a nice little university neighborhood. It was easy to get to and parking was not an issue. It may have been due to the very heavy rains earlier that morning of our visit; but later that day, when the sun came out; it was not at all crowded for a Tuesday afternoon in the Summer. I think the animals were as excited as we were to see the sun because most were out and about and giving us an enjoyable show. We paid $5 to park and $25 for two people to enter the zoo. We started our independent tour renting a stroller for $9, of which we received $1 back for returning the stroller. We headed toward the right in search of "bears." To our delight we saw many bears: three grizzlies, two American black bears, a polar bear and two panda bears. As we circled the zoo and made our way back to the front, we came upon Stingray Bay. For an additional few dollars we were allowed to pet the stingrays. This was definitely another highlight for my three year-old. We ended our tour at the cafe for lunch and sat outside on the patio. After lunch we partook in some afternoon play on the playground next to the patio. All and all a great visit. If we find ourselves in Memphis again, it would definitely be worth a repeat visit.
