If you had told me we could get an oceanfront resort room with an ocean view for $107 (+ tax) per night for two people, I would not have believed it.* That was the rate quoted on the Best Western website, for seniors & AARP members. The resort is truly a full service location, with an outstanding restaurant (see separate review), a heated outdoor pool, three hundred yards of sandy beach, evening bonfires and a staff willing to do "whatever it takes" to meet their guests' needs. We stayed her for two nights, arriving the first just in time for dinner and the sunset. We got up early both mornings in order to go out to see the elephant seals on a nearby beach. With a noon check out, we were even able to come back to our room before checking out to freshen up. I even went and had breakfast too.Because we required a room with two beds, we were in one of the two buildings that are perpendicular to the beach. Our "family room" was second floor, second from the end, with the door facing the ocean with a perfect angle for the evening sunset. They also have oceanfront rooms, with patios facing the beach. These deluxe king rooms have fireplaces and large soaking bathtubs. While the furnishings in our room were a bit worn and dated, they were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was equally clean, with ample toiletries provided. The room was also set up with a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks and adult beverages, all at a very fair price. The snack drawer was also well stocked, although we had enough packed with us that we didn't need these items. They were nice to remove the beverages from the refrigerator so that we could use it for our cooler items that included meat & cheese and other perishable items. In addition to cable TV with HBO, the resort also provides free in-room WiFi, which was very convenient to check email at night before bed. In the morning, my sister enjoyed the single cup Keurig coffee/ea maker. Our stay and the location of the Best Western Cavalier Oceanfront Resort could not have been better. We were less than 10 minutes from the local attractions we had come to visit.* I do note today that midweek summer bookings later this month are running $161/night . . . still a great value for this premier location.
