In Big D, Aw Shucks is a seafood 'dive' tradition. Situated on party lane, Greenville Ave and right across from the Granada Theater, you might think it's key to survival for more than 30 years has been location location location. But no! The food here is the best down home seafood in town. By down home I mean, no frills, homestyle, and moderately priced. Overhead can't be too high since you sit at wooden benches and help yourself to paper towels. This is a shack that's packed and rarely not. Order a combo plate- the fish is always fresh - or order a plate of cold oysters or order up a steaming heap of crawfish and start shucking! Best of all you get it quick and there's no fuss with orders. Check out is totally on the honor system - just tell the cashier what you ordered and you're good to go. They even have bottles of beer packed in ice chests sitting beside the entry. Nothin' fancy about Aw Shucks!! If you think Aw Shucks is too much of a shack and you need a little more elbow room, then turn the corner onto Mockingbird and head east. You'll see Big Shucks just before you cross Abrams. It is owned by the same folks. Same great seafood, prices, and service - but larger.
