When we were in Santa Eulalia, we wanted to take full advantage of the views over the harbour, which is how we found ourselves at the Es Mirador Des Port restaurant. The restaurant offers a selection of grilled meats in the traditional Asturian style. We took a table at the edge of the restaurant so that we could get the best views. The restaurant was quite popular and I think it was luck that meant we got a table at the edge rather than anything else, so if you want to do this, it might be worth booking in advance. We were brought bread to the table straight away which was served with olives and an absolutely delicious garlic mayonnaise. To be honest, whilst we enjoyed the bread, it is one of those things that is a bugbear of mine because they bring it to you without asking then charge you for it (2 euros a portion). I think if they are going to charge you for something, they should at least give you the option to refuse it. We opted for starters and main courses and a bottle of wine, which cost us about 65 euros, which to be honest, wasn’t really the best value for money. You see the food was only mediocre and the service patchy. I had an onion soup for starter, which was good but my husband was a little disappointed with his ham and melon. The ham was good but there was only one slice of it alongside what looked like a full quarter of a fairly hefty melon. At 12 euros, it was far too expensive for what he got. For main course we had one of their mixed grills between us which was quite reasonably priced at 30 euros, especially considering that we got chicken, steak, two kinds of sausages and a pork chop each. It was well cooked and quite tasty but the problem was that it was far too salty, even for my husband who likes salt on his food. There were huge amounts of rock salt on the stone that it was served on and the food itself which was a little too overpowering. The service was, like I said, patchy. The people who brought things to our table clearly didn’t speak much English, but were very smiley and pleasant. The people who took our orders however were curt to the point of being rude which kind of annoyed us and made us feel a bit unwelcome.Overall I probably wouldn’t recommend the restaurant because it just wasn’t worth the money we paid, even though the views were good and the food was OK.
