This place is a landmark. You have to make at least one stop here during your stay! And the beignets are delicious so you will probably make more than one appearance. We were walking around on our first day, wandering aimlessly, when we came upon this spot at dusk. It was jam packed. No place to sit and the line at the take out window was 20 deep. That's a good indication in my book to the quality of the fare.I am not a heavy coffee drinker, so my order consisted of only beignets. Easy enough. We took our package and headed towards the hotel. The heat emanating from the package called to me. It would be a dis-service to wait until we walk ALL THE WAY back to the hotel (it was only about 3 blocks) but then the beignets would have cooled down...losing something in the process. So I dipped into the bag as we walked.Mmm Mmm Mmm! Delicious! Lightly dusted with powdered sugar, this hole-less doughnut was crunchy on the outside and hot and tender on the inside. Sounds lascivious doesn't it? A must try,An added attraction at Cafe Du Monde was Mr. Wendell Pierce (IMDB) sitting at a table with his family.
