Enjoyed great service and a lovely hotel in Chicago" Stayed at the Avenue Hotel, which is a Crowne Plaza (points!), last Sunday thru Tuesday and had a lovely time. My family and I may be relocating to the Chicago area and wanted to scope out the downtown living options. We felt that the hotel was centrally located enough to walk to everything plus see how the downtown train system worked. We were right! It is near everything you could want to experience in downtown Chicago. We even caught the train easily enough and took it to the subburbs with no issue. We were very active during our stay so certainly didn't spend an over abundance of time in the hotel however what we spent was very pleasant. The staff were all very knowledgable about the area as we quizzed them left and right on the neighborhoods, places to eat, etc. No one ever made us feel like we were imposing on them. We booked our room via a travel agent, yes they do still exist! She has us reserved in a standard room but once we got there I had some points to burn to we upgraded to one of the suites. We scored! Great view, updated and the beds were amazingly comfortable. I truly don't expect to get a good nights sleep in a hotel but we certainly got one here. The hotel certainly seemed busy as a lot of people were moving about and the restaurants seemed well occupied. We did have room service one day and it arrived promptly and we felt a good value in it. Certainly it was only breakfast however I've had my share of cold room service eggs and this was not the case here at the Avenue hotel. Piping hot.If we plan on making the move to Chicago we'll definitely stay at the Avenue Hotel while we find our next "love nest".thank you for showing the great midwest hospitality we always hear about!
