JP Getty Museum is my favorite place in the entire county of Los Angeles. There is no entrance fee as you just pay for parking. There was a time when you had to make a reservation to gain timed entry, that is how amazing this place is! Nowadays you just need to make your way there. There usually will be a line to get into the museum parking lot, and you may have to park across the street. Once inside the structure, you will need to drive around unless you have an electric car or get there on the earlier side. It is all worth it! Once you finally gain entrance, you take a free tram up to the museum or you can choose to take a hike up.

J Paul Getty Museum is simply beautiful and well organized. The museum has a great collection of illuminated manuscripts and a decent amount of sculptures and decorative houseware. I enjoy their small, but well-chosen pastel works. However, where this museum shines is the architecture. It is really amazing! The curvature, white limestones with fossils, glasswork, everything! The lines of stones, etc, are all aligned to continue onto infinity.

The museum also has a pleasant sort of a walk down to a garden. A cactus garden is to be viewed from the museum buildings of the higher floors. Most of the water features are more on the organic side and tucked away in every corner. The view of downtown LA and Santa Monica are quite pleasing, also, when the smog is not getting too bad. The museum is in the mountains dividing downtown LA and San Fernando Valley off of the 405. Definitely visit!
