The Notre Dame Bascilica is one of the oldest structures in Montreal, located in the heart of Vieux-Montreal (old town). For a $5.00 admission fee you can self-guide yourself through the cathedral, admiring its many gorgeous stained-glass windows, the massive organ, intricately carved pulpit and more. There are multiple French and one English speaking guided tour offered per day, but we didn't feel it necessary. Instead, grab a seat in one of the pews and just relax and try to take in the immense beauty that surrounds you. In addition to the main cathedral, there is also a new chapel at the back with its own organ and some wonderful wood carvings.
