Heard that cost of hotel rooms has gone down a lot, but maybe not in Seattle downtown. I needed 2 rooms for myself and a colleague for a week, but the price of rooms plus parking was not a joke! I searched hotels outside the downtown that had a little lower rates but the traffic congestion in the morning and evening was a big minus. My supervisor advised checking out this small hotel (I should rather say it's a B&B with more rooms) citing her previous stay. The town of Bainbridge Island is very similar to Carmel Valley in CA., even though I could still see Seattle downtown across the water. The hotel is small but small is better in this case. Older staffs are very friendly and happy to introduce what's in their neighborhood. Breakfast was better than many business hotels I stayed before, especially the instant Belgian waffles were nice. The 30 minute ferry ride to and from Seattle was very comfortable and just good enough to prepare for business with my colleague. Ferry terminal on Seattle side is right in downtown and the Island is about 2 minutes drive from the hotel. Things I would miss : dinner and evening drinks at waterfront bars looking at light shows of Seattle downtown across the water; small shops at the main street; jokes broadcasted at the launching of the ferry; beautiful scenery while on the ferry including the seagulls flying along the ferry ; wonderful staffs at the hotel(especially Charles) ; and the fresh morning air of the Island. I strongly recommend checking out this beautiful island when in Seattle. Now my boss may get mad at me for revealing her little secret retreat.
