We went this past summer, August 2010 and spent the day there. Brought a picnic lunch and found PLENTY of shelter to eat and restrooms/showers are convienient to get to! I would also recommend going to the northern-most part of the beach/island (once you get into the park, go LEFT) and it's got the MOST sandbars and shallow water for kids to wade and snorkle. It is somewhat choppy and I would recommend lifejackets (which we bought for our 3 year old and infant). Otherwise, the water is CLEAR and tons of sea shells to collect as well!!!
