Cental Park is so huge you cannot even imagine the views you can see. If youre into seeing birds eye views of things and seeing the city sprawled out underneath you then come here. Forget the Empire State Building its too crowded and you ll wait ages to get up to their observation decks.

Top of the rock is an observation centre right at the top of the Rockefeller centre. You can get here a short walk from TImes square. The Rockefeller centre is so big you ll be able to see it when youre up from a bit of a distance. I recommend however taking a subway to 50th street station and then you can enter the Rockefeller centre by 5th and 6th street.

Once up to the viewing decks, the first two levels have a low wall with large Glass screens which enable you to get great views and photographs, there are reasonable sized gaps between the screens to enable cameras to get clear shots.

The top viewing deck has no screens, just the wall and a fantastic view of Manhattan. To get a photo taken here is amazing as there are not many places in New York where you can get a picture of the Empire State Building in the backdrop. On a clear day you can also get good shots of Harlem and the Central Park.

I think this is one of the hidden gems of New York as most people venture to the Empire State Building and get to pay high prices for an experience not quite as good as the top of the Rock. One disappointing thing was there was no where to get snack not even a cafe. But if you are coming here why not grab to eat before or after at one of the many delis in the surrounding area. Or some fast food
