A very special place to stay in Belgrade

Located in the centre of Old Belgrade, the Art Home Bed and Breakfast is really more like a 4 star small private hotel. An unassuming exterior hides this gem, the former home of a famous writer. Owners Milos and Mira are the most welcoming, caring and gracious of hosts. There are 4 rooms in their exquisite home available for guests. Everything is tastefully presented, with beautiful works of art, oil paintings in every room, many by Milos, and beautiful ceramic work created by Mira. So the whole place has a wonderful sense of character, taste and culture.

Each room is individual. Comfort and cleanliness are top spec. Lots of extras you would not expect to find (such as cotton buds and a new toothbrush in the bathroom). The free wifi was a definite plus. I was there over a period which went from 42oC to about 12-15oC in the day, and the whole place maintains a wonderfully even and comfortable temperature. I hardly needed to use the airconditioning when it was stiflingly hot outside. I need quiet to sleep, and reviews of other hotels warned me off if I needed a peaceful sleep. Here it was perfect. Windows are double glazed, and you barely hear any traffic. It is also one of the quietest streets in the area, yet just one block away from Strahinjice Street and 5 from the main pedestrianised shopping area. Kalemegdan Park is at the bottom of the road, and Trg Republike is 5 mins away, so excellent location.

I've travelled a lot in other countries, and often the breakfast can let me down. This is another great strength here. What a choice of juices, healthy yogurts, yogurt drinks, incredible bread, hams, cheese, fresh fruit including watermelon, melon, peaches, etc choices of omelettes, breakfast cereals, coffee and excellent range of teas. More than that though, is that there is also a display of food and drink left available all day and guests and encouraged to help themselves! Including cereals bars, chocolate. There is also a free mini-bar in each room. If you are around in the central room, you are often offered other refreshments too. Incredible hosts!! Yet never invasive. I can't imagine you will find anything that comes close to this. Offers of umbrellas when it was raining and bus tickets when I mentioned I would take the bus somewhere! For my first visit to Belgrade I couldn't have found anywhere better! Thank you Mira and Milos!
