On my visit to Edinburgh my partner and myself stayed in the Old Waverley Hotel. Firstly, the location of this hotel is fantastic. A two minute walk from the station and nicely positioned on Princes Street we were immediately able to find all of the local attractions and amenities. Though the entrance to the hotel is a narrow doorway amongst the shops on the street, it was still nicely presented. You do have to go up some stairs to reach the lobby however; I was unaware of any disability help there.

The room was lovely! When I go away to visit a place all I require is a clean room. The room was clean, everyday the tea, coffee, hot chocolate and shortbread was provided and the bathroom shone. A flat screen TV provided entertainment if needed. We were extremely lucky on our visit and we were given a room that faced out onto Princes Street and what a view it was, you could see the castle and across to the high street, it was magnificent. When booking with this hotel if you are able to choose a room with a view option you must do it.

Breakfast at the Old Waverly was fine. It was simple and that’s what we paid for, your usually line up of toast, cereal, juices, teas, coffee, croissants and a help yourself all you can eat cooked breakfast buffet. Be warned though this is a Scottish fry up so you do find items such as haggis and black pudding lurking there.

All in all the hotel provided exactly what we needed. We paid a price and we received the service we paid for. I would definitely go there again and would recommend the hotel to others. If not for anything else then simply the location because you couldn't get much better as all shops and tourist attractions surrounded the hotel. The Old Waverly was just what we needed.
