"Iron Chef's Tasty Lunch in Victoria"

Member Rating 4 out of 5 by JGStrauss on August 27, 2010

While strolling around Victoria we found Cactus Club Cafe on 1125 Douglas Street. Sleek modern interiors set the mood for this downtown, business person's watering hole and lunch spot. All the wait staff wore little black dresses - I guess their main clientale are the bankers who work in the neighborhood.

Lunch choices were difficult because of all of the interesting options. We choose the Pesto Chicken Quesadilla with a side of sweet potato fries. Yum! The meals came out hot and artfully presented.

Service was relaxed not slow. It was Saturday so folks were not rushing to get you in and out. I noticed an interesting neon sign at the servers' entrance to the kitchen " The House of Yes". It helps set the tone that whatever a customer wants, the service team will make it happen for you. The prices were on the high side but in line with eating lunch at a top restaurant in a major city. And it is run by Canada's only Iron Chef.

I'd go back and try the cedar-roasted salmon or the pistachio-crusted halibut next time.
