This grand old hotel will take your breath away when you walk into the lobby. The hotel is nice and has a great location in the downtown right on the river. The room was clean and well appointed. The are polished wood furnishings, a wet bar, LCD flat panel TV, iPod radio alarm clock, iron/ironing board, and cordless telephone. Wireless internet was an additional fee. My room had a great view of the city and Lake Michigan. The staff was very nice and well trained in customer service. Things to consider before staying at this hotel are: 1- They do not have free parking. The only parking is valet and it costs $24.00 a day. 2-The suites are in the historic part of the hotel which is nice, but the air conditioning could use some work. It always seemed hot and humid in the room. 3-There is a banquet room on the 7th floor; so if your suite is on the 6th floor, you will likely hear the music in your room. They had a wedding on the Friday and Saturday when I was there and I could here the music in my room until Midnight each night. When I called the front desk they were very good about it; and since they could not find another room for me they reduced the room cost to a standard cost rather than a suite. The suites are not really two rooms, as only a wall not a door seperates the bed from the living area. The bathrooms are marble, but are showing their age. The bar BLU was very nice with a great view. I would stay again but would not pay for a suite. You will pay 250-300 per night at this hotel and there are better options in downtown Milwaukee in the same price range.
