Best Beach in Key West

This is the only beach the we went to more than once and the best beach to spend your time at in my opinion. The entrance fee to the park is very reasonable ($7 for a car with 2 adults). This is a beautiful park, with all you could want - beach, shaded picnic areas, hiking trails, eating establishment and a fort to tour. There is parking close to the beach and close to the Fort as well. It is a clean park and beach and there doesn't seem to be to any threat of crime (although don't leave things unattended).

There is a stand to rent umbrellas and beach chairs if you so desire, but they're a bit pricey so take my advice and spend $10 for an umbrella at Kmart if you plan on going to the beach more than once and at the end of your vacation you can donate it to be used again by someone else. The concession stand has meals, snacks and drinks if you so desire and there are halfways decent bathrooms and showers.

The sand at the beach is pretty and the beach itself is of a decent size, however there is a small stretch of coral that you have to walk over to get to the water, so come prepared with some sandals of somesort. The water is beautiful, and not too cold, however it does drop off quite quickly, so if you aren't a strong swimmer, beware. It's a great beach to watch the water as well. You will often see sailboats of all different types and sizes, jet skis and power boats. You'll even see an occassional plane that flies over that holds sightseer's. Great park and great beach. Good bang for your buck!
